METEOROLOGICAL CENTRE JAIPUR

 

 

 

HISTORY:- 

                    Meteorological Centre at Jaipur was established during the year 1972 in a rental building to render weather forecasting and various other meteorological services in the state of Rajasthan. Since 2001 , this centre has been functioning from its own building at  Mausam Bhawan , Budhsinghpura , Sanganer, Jaipur -302011.

a)    Climatology

b)    Forecasting

c)    Radiation

d)    Inspection

e)    SDUC (Satellite Data Utilization Centre)

f)     DRMS (District wise Rainfall Monitoring Scheme)

g)    Current weather observatory (Aviation Purpose)

h)    Surface along with Pilot balloon and RS/RW observatory, Agriculture

    Advisory Unit.

 

   OBJECTIVES AND FUNCTIONS:-

 

1.    To disseminate meteorological observations at state and National level and to provide current and forecast meteorological information and cater to Agriculture, Irrigation and Aviation services.

 

2.    To warn against severe weather phenomenon like duststorm/Thunderstorm, heavy rainfall ,heat and cold waves, ground frost etc.

 

3.    To provide meteorological statistics required for agriculture , water resource management industries and other national building activities.

 

4.    To analyze and interpret meteorological observations collected from India and other countries and issue forecasts and current weather information required by different user-interests and warning for protection of life and property in the state.

 

5.    Scrutinise and Keying meteorological observations of Rajasthan

6.    for assimilation in to climatologically archives.

 

7.    Providing Hydro meteorological information and inputs for water resource management and flood forecasting.

8.    The annual technical inspection of all these observatories and rain gauge stations is carried out by the officers of this centre to ensure  the quality of data as per WMO (World Meteorological Organization) standard.
