JAMMU AND KASHMIR, RAJASTHAN, UTTAR PRADESH AND UTTARAKHAND

WEDNESDAY 17 MARCH 2010 (26 PHALGUNA 1931 SAKA)

SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED AT 0830 HOURS IST:

Severe heat wave conditions are prevailing in many parts of south Rajasthan, likely to continue during next two days.

RAINFALL:

Rain/snow have occurred at isolated places in Uttarakhand. Weather was dry in the rest of the region.  

TEMPERATURES:

MAXIMUM:

            The maximum temperatures changed little. They were largely above normal in Himachal Pradesh and west Rajasthan, markedly above normal in east Rajasthan, appreciably above normal in Haryana and Uttarakhand, above normal Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab and west Uttar Pradesh and normal in the rest of the region. The highest maximum temperature in the region was 41.6șC recorded at Barmer (Rajasthan).

MINIMUM:

            The minimum temperatures rose in east Uttar Pradesh and changed little elsewhere. They were markedly above normal in Rajasthan, appreciably above normal in Haryana, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand and above normal in the rest of the region. The lowest minimum temperature in the plains was 13.6 șC recorded at Sarsawa (Uttar Pradesh).
